"21st Annual Tyler Turkey Trot Anticipates Record Turnout with Over 2000 Participants"

TYLER, Texas - The 21st edition of the Tyler Turkey Trot 5K and fun run is gearing up for a grand event this Thanksgiving. Set to commence on the morning of Thanksgiving day, the 5K race will start at 9 a.m., with the Kid’s Dash kicking off at 8:30 a.m.

With a sold-out roster of 1,800 runners and an additional influx of spectators, the event is estimated to host a bustling crowd of around 2,200 people, according to Race Director Michelle Peña.

Notably, all spots for both the Tyler Turkey Trot and Kids Race have been filled, underscoring the community's enthusiasm for this annual tradition. Participants in the Kid’s Dash have the unique opportunity to join the 5K at no cost, although registration for the 5K is required for chip-timing.

This year, the Turkey Trot has chosen For the Silent as its designated charity, an organization dedicated to combatting sex trafficking and exploitation. The race will commence at Racquet & Jog, with packet pick-up scheduled from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. at the race's starting point.

According to Peña, no significant road closures are anticipated for the event, with only one lane expected to be open on Rice Road during the race.

As Tyler gears up for this longstanding Thanksgiving tradition, the spirit of community, charity, and healthy competition is set to mark the 21st Annual Tyler Turkey Trot as a memorable and impactful event."
